Frank Preusser studied geology at the University of Cologne, Germany, where he received his PhD in 1999 (‘luminescence dating of fluvial sediments’). As part of a postdoctoral project at the University of Bern, Switzerland, he began working in Arabia investigating the aeolian dynamics of the Wahiba Sands, Oman. Later he expanded his work to fluvial and lake deposits in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
Since 2011 Frank has been professor of Quaternary Geology at Stockholm University, Sweden, and is one of the editors of the international journal ‘Quaternary Geochronology’. Besides projects in Arabia, he is involved in projects in the Alps and Andes, investigating the impact of past climate change on glacial and fluvial sedimentary systems.
